This soundtrack is a special mix of traditional and modern music recorded on location in Sanikiluaq, original compositions, sound design, production mixes and contributed recordings. From Inuit hip-hop to mouth harp music from a feather, this diverse soundscape will immerse you in the unique world above and below the sea ice in the heart of Hudson Bay.

Native Newfoundlander Steve Haley from Human Soundtrack fame is a little older, a father, and living in rural Nova Scotia. Maybe inspired by his small town living, his new group Banded Stilts take you in the soundtrack of people and various characters living in the “Little Village”.
Themes of women, love, heartbreak, hard winter, ocean, and dreams are prevalent. Featured instruments include;  guitar, banjo, fiddle, accordion, mandolin, piano, accompanied by gospel like harmonies. Banded Stilts are continuing the modern traditions of folk/rock complimenting the music of Neil Young, The Band, CSN, and Fleet Foxes.

Etymologically, GALA derives from the Old French word gale (merriment), and now connotes a sense of festive occasion. It’s also my favourite kind of apple.”
