Description
The Benoits are the first family of traditional music on the Port aux Port peninsula. The fiddle, button accordion and acoustic guitar feature most prominently in their songs and this family is exceptionally skilled at their respective instruments. The album is a mix of up-tempo jigs and reels and some fantastic singing songs including a great rendition of the traditional piece, Vive la Rose, first made popular by fiddle icon, Emile Benoit. Produced by acclaimed musician, Duane Andrews, “La Farine” is an exceptional example of the significance of French influence on traditional Newfoundland music.
