“When he first started playing guitar in 1997, it was mostly the classic country, but over the years he has moved into rock, and folk styles, such as Cash, Prine, Dylan, Waits, Willie Nelson, and popular music from the 40’s through to the 80’s.  In June of 2011, Wade released his first professional CD entitled Damned Old Rodeo, and the reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with his original composition Cupids getting regular airplay on Kixx Country 103.9FM, Radio Newfoundland 930AM, and VOWR 800AM.  On September 2, 2011, Wade was featured in St. John’s local paper The Telegram in their music series “Fresh Tracks”.  On January 16th, and again on December 10th 2012, he performed on the Rogers TV show, Out of the Fog (click “Video” from list on left side of screen to view performance).  During the summer of 2012, Wade acted in two plays with the Torbay Theatre Festival.  He played “Nixie” in Ben Pittman’s production of the musical, “Solomon Gosse’s Birthday”, and “Rich Codner” in Ben Pittman’s production of “1762: The Taking of Torbay”

“Jim’s thirty-five year career with the railroad began in Halifax, NS. He then transferred to Newfoundland and Labrador where he spent the remainder of his career until the railroad’s closure in 1988. Jim’s love and passion for the railroad were obvious to anyone close to him.

In later years Jim expressed his love and passion in the many songs that he wrote and sang (although he would tell you very quickly that singing was not his calling).   Some of Jim’s songs were recorded on two CDs.   In these songs Jim sang enthusiastically about his experiences on the railroad.  Jim’s first song titled, “I Love Working on the Railroad” speaks passionately about how he fell in love with the railroad: “Listening to the humming of the wheels-clicking of the joins rocking in the curbs.”   In other songs Jim provides vivid memories and pictures of the train: “Moving with a full head of steam, around the mountain side, climbing big hill, easing down the grade, crossing the bog,
going through deep snow cuts and around blind rock cuts.”

Their sound is a little more progressive than some of the mainstay traditional groups but this, accompanied by their energetic live show, has given Fine Crowd distinction amongst a sea of live performers. All in all Fine Crowd offers an eclectic mix of old and new with enough edge to distinguish it from the pack.

Mel, whom I met through RVing, recently tried his hand at songwriting.  It was pleasantly surprising to both of us, how easily the thoughts and words took shape.  He has written four songs for this CD: (Let Our Hearts Do The Talking, No Other Love Like You, The Winner, and Rock n’ Rollin’ Granny).  He did all the music for his songs, and also played bass on all the songs.  “Good job ol’ Buddy.”

“The choir’s repertoire spans from the Renaissance to the Twenty-First Century, and while their selection is primarily classical, they are known to include spiritual, folk and light popular culture selections in their programming to the delight of both choir and audience. Cantus Vocum prides itself in its repertoire of works by Canadian composers and in its ability to continually produce innovative programming to cover a broad spectrum of musical tastes.

Cantus Vocum has found great reception all over the world. They have performed at St. Paul’s Cathedral in England; Beaumont Hamel in France; Ryelandt Hall in Belgium; at the Cologne Cathedral in Germany and in an International Choral Festival in The Netherlands. In July 2004, the choir toured extensively in Italy – a tour which was highlighted by a performance in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City. In 2008, the choir had a successful tour of Finland, Estonia, and the Czech Republic in July 2008. Cantus Vocum were warmly received by audiences in the Helsinki Cathedral in Helsinki, Finland; St. Charles Church in Tallinn, Estonia; St. Elizabeth’s Church in Parnu, Estonia, and in St. Salvator Church of Prague, Czech Republic, where they performed a joint concert with the Holy Heart of Mary Alumni Choir, a choir of fellow Newfoundland musicians touring Europe that summer. Most recently, the choir has toured Denmark and Sweden.

While the choir love and are thankful for the opportunities they have had to travel with their music, they value their performances closer to home, and in 2006, Cantus Vocum was a finalist in the CBC National Radio Competition”

“Formed in 1998, Bump have become one of the most well known rock bands on the infamous ‘George Street’ in North America’s oldest city, St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. Known for their energized live show and the ability to always bring out a crowd and show them a great time, this band now can be officially recognized as veterans of the music scene with the credentials to back it up. The band released their first album titled 104 in 2007 to great reviews and eventually bringing them their first heavily played single ‘High’. Now on their sophomore album Spaces in Between, this band shows no signs of slowing down.
The current line up has been there since the early days and , with such a collection of influences and musical diversity within its members, it is no surprise that this band has managed to remain a force to be reckoned with every since bursting onto the scene nearly a dozen years ago.
