The multi-talented James Rose has made an album of completely original songs. This singer-songwriter also plays acoustic guitar and has Dave Fitzpatrick on drums, bass, acoustic/electric guitar, mandolin, harmonica and backing vocals. This is a very personal album, with all of the songs dedicated to his wife who passed away in 1998, and with all of the album art painted by James himself.
This 5-song EP from local young group City on the Coast is quite special. Still in high school, this group’s sound is truly a blend of Arcade Fire meets Broken Social Scene meets Hey Rosetta! With an immaculate performance here at Fred’s, we all agree the star is on the rise for them.
Karl Wells performs Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” on this must-have recording.
“Karl Wells moves effortlessly from Scrooge to Marley to Tiny Tim as though he were a spirit himself. This reading will fill you with The Yuletide spirit and have you buying the prize trukey in the butcher’s window in no time.”

“One man. One guitar. One voice. Strip away all the arrangements, all the instruments, and all the production and what remains is the heart of a song. On one special night in May of 2008 at the Marigold Cultural Centre, Charlie A’Court walked out on stage and wore his words on his sleeve. What was captured was a moving display of honest emotion, striking a delicate balance between aspirations and vulnerability. Whether singing one of his own or re-interpreting songs from his influences, this sold out performance shines a light on Charlie’s heart and soul and brings the audience along for an emotional ride. ”
