Strength in the face of the challenges of everyday life is best shown through quiet confidence and positivity. That’s the approach to life presented by Newfoundland pianist and composer Wade Tarling in his debut solo piano album, Strength. Born in Burnaby, BC, Tarling has been playing the piano for 20 years and has honed his talent under such esteemed musicians as John Medeski, Billy Martin, Chris Woodand John Scofield. In this album, Tarling brings to bear all that fine musical training as well as the experiences he has had performing all over the world.

This 11 song homage to Newfoundland’s greatest songwriter features a top notch cast of players with a gentle, barroom sway fleshed out on banjo, fiddle, mandolin, electric bass, acoustic guitar and drums. Also featuring Amelia Curran and Paul Kinsman on “St. John’s Waltz”, the album delivers many standouts including “My Father’s Ghost”, “House”, “Judgement” and “:Boy From Old Perlican”. Of course beloved classics, “Sonny’s Dream” and “Man Of A Thousand Songs” make the line-up.

Formed in 1999 with founding member Steve Abbott (guitars \ vocals), Andrew Fisher (bass) and Jon Hynes (drums). Geinus played their own brand of ambitious noise rock in and around St. John’s NL Canada. In 2001 the “First Time’s Free” EP was released. And in 2004 the band released “Geinus at the Goat Palace” recorded by Ron Anonsen.

In 2006 drummer Alex Pierson signed on and the result “Geinus – Live at Distortion” was released the following year.
After a hiatus the band returned in 2016 with new 4th member Chris Brown as additional guitarist.

Geinus have recorded a brand new LP “Geinus – Keeper” with Michelle Lacour and mastered by Ron Anonsen.

Overcoming a life-changing health scare, Paul Brace throws his life and passion into his debut solo album, Liars & Actors.

Full of uptempo, poppy anthems that vibrate between the early 80’s and alt-rock 90s, the majority of Paul Brace’s Liars and Actors doesn’t tonally fit with what one might call a “meditation.” But for all intents and purposes, the album is an 8-song attempt to find peace amidst a storm.

The entire concept behind Liars & Actors mirrors Brace’s battle with cancer, and his innermost struggles on how to deal with the sobering reality, while putting on a brave face for friends and family.

He has worked diligently with Young Adult Cancer Canada, attending seminars and retreats, and also aims to give back much of the albums proceeds to young adults who are affected by cancer. Liars & Actors is dedicated to each and every one of them.

Another North have been referred to as a ‘90’s nostalgia band’ for fans of mid 90’s and early 2000’s alternative rock. Echoing influences the likes of Incubus, I Mother Earth, and Our Lady Peace, Another North have developed a diversified catalogue of melodic and accessible music. Their eclectic approach to writing has produced a wide variety of songs, ranging from hard hitting alt-rock (Diversion, Pulse), to pop-rock (Glass, Body, Moth), and ambient indie (Both Sides, Stay the Same), all of which will be available on their MusicNL supported sophomore album, ‘The Missing Mouth’ (coming, Sept. 28^th, 2018).
 
Based out of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, Another North’s current line-up consists of Aaron Morgan (lead vocals and guitar), Joe Tucker (lead guitar), and Brad Wells (drums). Another North’s debut album, ‘Nomadic’ (released Aug. 5^th, 2014) was nominated for MusicnNL Alternative Album of the year, and was supported by two successful Atlantic Canadian Tours, punctuated by performances at the East Coast Music Awards showcases, and a recent opportunity to open for Our Lady Peace during the 2018 George Street Festival. It’s with great excitement that Another North look forward to expanding their reach into the East Coast and beyond with this album, ‘The Missing Mouth’.
